Global Summit of Filipinos in Diaspora

700 outstanding overseas Filipinos from at least 40 countries in the world: leaders of their respective communities, achievers in their fields, decision-makers of their organizations or businesses, worthy representatives of an estimated 8.5 million overseas Filipinos – these are the participants of the First Global Summit of Filipinos in the Diaspora scheduled on September 27 to 29, 2011 at PICC, Manila, Philippines.

The main objective of the Summit is to present to all these outstanding Filipinos what they can do to become the country's partners in development, thus the theme: "Diaspora to Development", which could range from diaspora investment to doing business in the Philippines, from diaspora philanthropy to technology transfer, from cultural and educational exchangeS to legal assistance for distressed overseas Filipinos and tourism initiatives. The Conference will likewise present what the country can do for overseas Filipinos, thus the complementary message of: "Return and Reintegration".

With such an audience under one roof for three days and the objectives of this First Global Summit, banks who are the conduits of billions of dollars of remittances from overseas Filipinos every year, multi-media agencies and real estate companies who spend millions of pesos to reach out to this target market, the Global Summit is one of these rare opportunities where one gets value for money -- advertising and public relations budgets will prove to be well spent.

The organizers of the Global Summit are the Commission on the Filipinos Overseas (CFO), the National Federation of Filipino Associations in America (NaFFAA) and the US Pinoys for Good Governance (USP4GG) and other networks of overseas Filipinos in Europe, Middle East and Asia. CFO has sent out its "save the date" invitations to 300 Presidential awardees who are spread out in 40 countries. In addition, CFO has urged Philippine embassies and consulates to extend the invitation to the recognized leaders including youth leaders of the Filipino communities in their respective areas.

From Asian Journal Publications Los Angeles: "Loida Nicolas Lewis, current chair of US Pinoys for Good Governance, convened a meeting with Los Angelenos at Salakot Restaurant on May 4, 2011 where she discussed two initiatives. First is the upcoming global summit of Filipinos in the diaspora, at the Philippine International Convention Center to be held on September 27-29, 2011, with the participation of NAFFAA, US Pinoys for Good Governance and Commission on Filipinos Overseas"
