The Filipino Unity and National Development Programme aims to foster better cohesion and purpose among various overseas Filipino organizations for the promotion of their own interests within a broader Filipino community.

The task of promoting more cohesiveness and unity of purpose is undertaken mainly by providing the fullest possible support and encouragement to initiatives of overseas Filipino community leaders. The government provides a supportive role so that the movement for all-Filipino unity is consistent with free enterprise and people empowerment, and becomes sustainable in the long term.

The programme also undertakes a parallel effort to instill a sense of Filipino national pride to overseas Filipinos / Filipino communities, and provide appropriate public recognition to those who have made significant contributions to progress in their host countries or Philippine motherland.

It also maintains the objective of sustainable national development. The professional and technical expertise, financial resources, capital goods, as well as training and information resources are systematically encouraged to flow into economically active sectors in the Philippines.
