OVERSEAS VOTING REGISTRATION CENTER NOW OPEN AT CFO-MANILA FOR THE 2019 NATIONAL ELECTIONS
A US-bound Filipino emigrant registering at CFO-Overseas Voting Center
February 14, 2017 – Good news for emigrants, OFWs, and vacationing migrants – you may now register as overseas voter at the Commission on Filipinos Overseas – Manila.
As part of the government's extensive campaign to encourage overseas Filipinos to register and vote for the upcoming 2019 midterm national elections and in accordance with R.A. No. 10590 (Overseas Voting Act of 2013), the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and CFO formally open the Overseas Voters Registration Center at CFO Manila on February 6, 2017. The Center is open during office hours (Monday-Friday, 8am–5pm) until September 30, 2018, which is the last day of registration.
CFO Now Accepting Nominations for MAM Awards 2017
Nominations to the Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards 2017 are now formally open.
Conceived in 2011 by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) in line with the Celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants Day in the Philippines (held every month of December and December 18, respectively), MAM Awards aim to recognize the significant role of the media in information dissemination and advocacy of news and concerns related to migration and development.
President Duterte Confers Presidential Awards to 23 Outstanding Overseas Filipinos and Organizations
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte honored 23 distinguished and outstanding overseas Filipinos and foreign-based organizations from 11 countries during the Awarding Ceremonies for the 2016 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO) on Monday, December 19 at the Malacañan Palace.
In offering his snappiest salute to the awardees for their accomplishments and assistance to their fellow Filipinos and to the Filipino community, the President echoed one of his favorite quotes by Stephen Grellet in appreciation of the collective accomplishments by the Presidential Awardees, “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
