11 July 2018, Guinobatan, Albay – Some 130 indigent students of the Travesia Elementary School (TES) received giftbags earlier today from the Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America, Inc. (AFTA) through the Adopt-a-School program of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO). The giftbags, which are co-sponsored by Kayumanggi Chorale, Inc., another non-profit group of Filipinos in the US, contain school supplies, a hygiene kit, a pair of slippers, and a Jollibee meal.
The AFTA, which has been partnering with the CFO’s Adopt-a-School for almost two (2) decades now, also formally turned over a school fund amounting to PhP 25,560.00 to TES Principal Anzel Santing. AFTA President Dr. Roxanne Cajigas said the financial assistance will be used by the school for the installation of a transformer that would finally complete its power supply system.
CFO officers Paul Cristobal and Eumarlo Tolosa facilitated the gift-giving event from planning to execution, while AFTA vice president Nitz Hingpis and treasurer Nellie Gabatino complemented the delegation of overseas Filipinos (OFs) from the US headed by Cajigas.
