The Commission on Filipinos Overseas is one of the participating agencies in the 2019 Calabarzon Migration and Development Forum which will be held at the Santa Rosa City Sports Complex, Santa Rosa City, Laguna on October 22, 2019.
Given the region’s vast economic opportunities, the theme of this year’s forum is “Migranteng Pilipino Kaagapay sa Pag-Unlad ng Bayan”. The forum aims to encourage overseas Filipinos and their families to invest in economic activities that will ensure sustainability of their income and enhance their socioeconomic welfare.
There will be several talks on economic opportunities for migrants, the role of cooperatives in migration and development (M & D) as well as booths by various government agencies as well as products and services offered by several cooperatives and private companies.
CFO Secretary Francisco P. Acosta and Usec. Astravel Pimentel-Naik said that the event is part of CFO’s commitment to the policy pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte in providing assistance to overseas Filipinos and bringing government services closer to migrants and their families.
The annual M&D Forum, which started in 2015, was conceptualized to provide an avenue to advocate mainstreaming of M&D, sharing of initiatives, and creating awareness on the current and emerging M&D issues and concerns. It is organized by the Committee on Migration and Development of Calabarzon’s Regional Development Council where CFO is a member.
