According to data obtained by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), there are a total of 2,434,862 Filipino emigrants worldwide from 1981 to 2018. Of this figure, Germany is the top 8 country of destination constituting 0.72% of the total emigrant population at 17,482.

From 1985 to 1988, the number of Filipino emigrants bound for Germany declined when the Philippines suffered economic recession following the assassination of Benigno Aquino, Jr., before rapidly rising again after the EDSA Revolution that brought democracy and development potentials back to the country that was once in the perils of the Martial Law Era.

In 1994, Germany recorded the highest number of Filipino emigrants in a year at 784 when the Philippines finally recovered from various financial and political crises. Finally, starting 2006, the total number of Germany-bound Filipino emigrants started rising steadily up to the present.
