Did you know that the United States of America was the top country of destination among Filipino emigrants from 1981 to 2018? A total of 1,474,077 emigrants were bound for the USA, comprising 60.54% of the overall Filipino emigrant population in this time period.

There had been a steady rise in the number of Filipino emigrants flying to the USA yearly since 1993, until a sudden dip occurred in 1998 when former vice president Joseph Estrada was sworn in as the 13th President of the country and former Senator Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as the tenth Vice President. The figures started rising again in 2000 at a fairly rapid rate until 2006 when the highest count of Filipino emigrants in a year was recorded at 49,522, after which the number of Filipino emigrants enroute to the USA started to stabilize towards the following years.
