Did you know? The female sex was dominant among the approximately 12,000 Filipino marriage migrants bound for Canada from 2009 to 2019. Seventy-five percent were female at 9,121, while the remaining 3,009 were male.
The population of Filipino spouses, fiancé(e)s, and other partners of foreign nationals en route to Canada in the same period was middle-aged. The dominant age group was 25- to 29-year-olds, accounting for 25.52% at 3,096. They were followed by 2,782 30- to 34-year-olds at 22.94%. Together, Filipino spouses and other partners aged 25 to 34 made up almost half of the entire Canada-bound Filipino spouses, fiance(e)s, and other partners of foreign nationals.
The following age groups were 35-39 year-olds at 16,10%, and 20-24-year-olds and 40-44 year-olds, which accounted for almost equal portions at 10.83% and 10.24%, respectively. Meanwhile, emigrants aged 60 or older comprised only as little as 1.16%.
