Did you know? New Zealand was the Top 6 country of destination among Filipino emigrants from 1981 to 2019, totaling 23,290 emigrants or 0.93% of the total number of Filipino emigrants in this period.

According to registration data gathered by CFO, the annual number of Filipino emigrants bound for New Zealand was at an all-time low from 1981 to the early 1990s, listing only an average of 43 emigrants per year. This number slowly climbed from 1993 until sudden spikes occurred in 1996 and 2002.

In 2006, a sudden rise was observed again when the highest yearly count of Filipino emigrants en route to New Zealand was recorded at around 2,000. This dramatic increase happened when former Philippine President Gloria M. Arroyo declared a state of emergency via Proclamation No. 1017 to suppress lawless violence.

In the following years until 2019, the annual number of Filipino emigrants bound for New Zealand gradually stabilized while following a subtle downward trend.

Reference data covers 1981-2019.
