Did you know? According to registration data gathered by the CFO, there were 2,434,862 Filipino emigrants bound for 138 different countries from 1981 to 2018. More than half of this population were en route to the USA at 60.54%. USA listed the highest number of Filipino emigrants yearly for almost four decades since 1981, becoming the second home to approximately 1.5 million CFO-registered emigrants.

The CFO consistently recorded around 35,000 to 40,000 Filipino emigrants bound for the USA annually. In 1988, however, a sudden dip occurred when former Vice President Joseph Estrada was sworn in as the 13th President of the country. Only in 2000 did the figure start rising again at a fairly rapid rate. The highest count of Filipino emigrants flying to the USA in a year was then recorded in 2006 at 49,522. This number stabilized thereafter.

In total, there were 1,477,077 Filipino emigrants bound for the USA from 1981 to 2018. Most of them were en route to the state of California at 43.09%, followed by Hawaii with a very wide margin at 9.65%. Other major destination states included Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Florida, Guam, and Virginia which each shared 3.53%, on average, of the Filipino emigrant population in the said period. The rest were en route to the other 40 states, excluding the small portion of about 3.2% who were bound for US insular areas.
