The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) reminds interested overseas Filipinos and the public that they have until May 31, 2018 to submit nominations for the 2018 PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS FOR FILIPINO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS OVERSEAS at the nearest Philippine embassy and consulate (which has jurisdiction of their nominee).
The CFO conducts the biennial search for exemplars in the Filipino Diaspora. It covers all overseas Filipinos holding temporary or permanent residency status in their host countries. Seafarers as well as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and dual citizens and naturalized Filipinos may also be nominated. A distinct category in the awards is also reserved for foreign individuals or organizations for their exceptional contribution to the Philippine development and for advancing the cause of overseas Filipino communities.
“Overseas Filipinos for a long time have been our partners for change and in nation building. Through these Awards, we hope to share stories of self-sacrifice, determination, integrity and excellence as a testament to the fact that many overseas Filipinos go the extra mile without fanfare or expectations of reward,” CFO Undersecretary Astravel Pimentel-Naik said.
Since its inception in 1991, the awards have already been bestowed upon 460 Filipino individuals and organizations overseas from 51 countries and territories.
