On 17 August 2018, the much anticipated signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and the Local Government of Quezon City to pledge the full support of both parties to the localization of the e-governance project BaLinkBayan: Overseas Filipinos One-Stop Online Portal for Diaspora Engagement in Quezon City, finally took place at the Bulwagang Amoranto, Quezon City Hall. In attendance were over a hundred representatives of various Quezon City OFW Associations and several QC departments including members of the QC Migration and Development Council, led by the Quezon City Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), and local partners.
The MOA signing on the localization of the BaLinkBayan portal in Quezon City marks another milestone in the dynamic partnership on migration and development initiatives between the CFO and Quezon City. In her remarks at the ceremony, CFO Executive Director Astravel Pimentel – Naik expressed her appreciation to “Mayor Bautista and his team for rising up to the challenge of bringing the services for Filipino migrants and their families closer to the ground, in the place where they live and come from. We want our fellow Filipinos living and working overseas to feel our malasakit with access to information and services at the touch of the screen or a click of the mouse, even as they are thousands of miles away from us.”
As an expression of the Quezon City’s appreciation to CFO, Mayor Herbert Bautista awarded a commemorative medallion to Undersecretary Pimentel – Naik.
